Algonquin Public School
2024-2025 Safe and Inclusive School Plan
Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.
Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.
The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.
Key Priorities and Goals
This year we are focusing on supporting students to recognize and maintain healthy and appropriate boundaries with their peers.
We are doing this so that our students will be able to positively regulate and interact with their peers while still respecting each others’ personal boundaries.
Key Actions or Strategies
- Staff will teach and model the key elements of personal boundaries with students.
- Staff will reinforce this using the THINK and THINK online acronyms with students.
- The Algonquin Home and School Association and School Council will engage our school community with regular engagement sessions and speakers.
Community and Home Connections
- Ask your child about the Zones of Regulation and why personal boundaries are important and need to be respected.
- Try using the zones of regulation and the THINK strategy at home with your child.
- Check out this resource from Social Thinking about The Zones of Regulation.
- Check out these Parent & Caregiver Resources from Children's Mental Health Ontario.
